She was born in New Orleans, LA and earned her BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. In 2018 she was awarded a NYFA/NYSCA Artist Fellowship in Painting and was an Artforum Critics Pick for her solo exhibition at Black & White Gallery (Brooklyn). She has recently shown her work at Auxier Kline Gallery, Jeff Bailey Gallery, The Berkshire Botanical Garden, the Samuel Dorsky Museum, Geoffrey Young Gallery, The Albany Airport and Wave Hill Gardens. She has been an Artist in Residence at the Saltonstall Foundation (NY), Ucross Foundation (WY), Provincetown Dune Shacks & the Byrdcliffe Colony (NY). She is also the host and producer of the Pep Talks for Artists Podcast.

Amy Talluto makes paintings and ceramic sculptures inspired by imagery that she sources from collage, nature, and imagination. From these images, she creates a repeating cast of characters including a “blockhead” figure with a square head, two melancholy eyes from Ingres’ painting of the Princess de Broglie, and a unique tree once discovered on a local hike. These characters stand alone or combine together to populate imagined environments like actors on a stage. Repetition, like in a game of telephone, whispers infinite permutations into each character's ear as it morphs and evolves with each work. Mixed together, these 2-D and 3-D characters act out loose surrealist narratives against a backdrop of stars, foliage, clouds and recessed niches.
